The Accident

The series "The Accident" was born from the dramatic event in Lawrence Ziv's life - a serious car accident in 1985, during which he was fatally injured, was unconscious for two months and survived against all odds. Dealing with the physical and mental breakdown gave rise to a new artistic language, in which pain becomes healing. The paintings show a clash between body and spirit, between suffering and hope - in fragmented lines, turbulent layers of color and charged spots. Lawrence did not try to forget the pain, but to translate it into light - to turn the personal breakdown into a universal metaphor for renewal.
